Zodiaque, UB’s pre-professional dance company, will be back on the UB Center for the Arts (CFA) stages, in close collaboration with Design and Technology students and faculty, highlighting the rich versatility and creativity of the UB Department of Theatre and Dance. The 47th fall program of Zodiaque includes jazz, modern and contemporary ballet dance works. The show is under the co-direction of faculty members Kerry Ring, Michael Deeb Weaver and Lynne Koscielniak. Choreographers include Ring, Deeb Weaver and dance faculty members Melanie Aceto, Tom Ralabate and Chanon Judson, BFA ‘01, co-artistic director of New York City-based dance company Urban Bush Women. MFA candidates Anna Caison Boyd, Jacquie Cherry and Meg Kirchhoff will also present works. The show is punctuated by the contributions of professional guest choreographer Takehiro “Take” Ueyama, director of the Take Dance Company. Zodiaque performs live in the CFA Drama Theatre (Act 1) and CFA Mainstage Theatre (Act 2), October 16-17, 2021; the bill also includes a site-specific dance on film. Zodiaque will be filmed for online viewing October 29-31, allowing audiences from outside of the Buffalo area, or those unable to conveniently attend a live performance, to participate as well.
