Job Title: Health Insurance Broker & Membership Development
Work Location: Amherst, NY
Part Time/Full Time Flex Position
 
Job Purpose:
  • Primary function is to administer new and recurring health insurance while building business relationships for chamber services.
 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Navigate internal CRM system, Chamber Master, for day-to-day operations
    • Responsible for maintaining Chamber Master accuracy for insurance records and transactions
  • Shared responsibility for integrity of the organization and overall insurance services
  • Develop health plan collateral from carriers for subscriber proposal
  • Assist in inventory of collateral materials
  • Secure on-going knowledge of all plan designs and differing carrier enrollment requirements
  • Service existing insurance accounts responsively and thoroughly
  • Service existing membership will proactively building new relationships responsively
  • Meet with and enroll new businesses and subscribers
  • Complete rolling monthly renewal of existing broker accounts according to carrier schedules
  • Stay up to date and practiced in carrier portal procedures
  • Maintain subscriber records of adds, changes, cancellations including carrier notifications, database entry and collection/credit of premium
  • Assist in monthly carrier bill/database reconciliations and verifications
  • Provide monthly tracking reports that show contract retention, growth and loss in all insurance categories/carriers
  • Participate in carrier meetings and seminars as requested
  • Assist in preparation for health insurance open enrollment sessions, meet with and enroll new subscribers
  • Assist Membership Manager new member data for outreach
  • Responsible for maintenance of appropriate Continuing Education requirements for NYS Broker License
    • Ensure broker license is renewed 30 days prior to expiration
  • Collaborate with all co-workers to ensure continuous customer satisfaction
  • Prepare reports, attend meetings and respond to special assignments
  • Work to eliminate waste, where applicable
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned
 
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
  • 3 years of relevant experience preferred but not necessary
  • NYS Broker Insurance License
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and experience with technology
  • Must have high ethical standards
  • A team player with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Competencies should include business acumen, customer focus, communication proficiency, problem solving/analysis, project management and strategic thinking.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and a serviceable vehicle suitable for business
Preferred:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not necessary
  • Experience working within a related field
