Makoto Japan Market Brings Japan to Amherst, Celebrates Location with Ribbon Cutting 10/16/2026

Amherst Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, A.J. Baynes, joins Chamber member Makoto Japan Market along with the community for a ribbon cutting at 3pm on Friday, October 16th at 3368A Sheridan Dr., Amherst, NY 14226.

The ribbon cutting marks an exciting milestone for the locally-owned business as it continues to bring a unique shopping experience to the Western New York community.

Makoto Japan Market offers a wide selection of authentic Japanese and Asian groceries, including imported snacks, beverages, frozen foods, specialty ingredients, and unique products that are often difficult to find in traditional supermarkets.

Beyond groceries, Makoto Japan Market has become a destination for fans of Japanese anime, collectibles, and pop culture. The store features a growing selection of Japanese-inspired toys, anime figures, blind boxes, manga, and collectible merchandise. From popular anime characters to fun and creative collectibles, Makoto offers something exciting for customers of all ages. By combining traditional Asian grocery shopping with the excitement of Japanese pop culture, Makoto Japan Market creates an engaging shopping environment where families, collectors, anime enthusiasts, and food lovers can explore and discover something new with every visit.

“Our goal has always been to bring something unique to the Buffalo community. We want Makoto to be more than just a grocery store. We want it to be a place where people can discover new foods, explore Japanese culture, find exciting toys and collectibles, and enjoy a shopping experience that brings people together,” shared Andy Huang, owner. Makoto Japan Market continues to introduce new and exciting products, with a focus on offering customers a diverse mix of authentic Asian foods, trending Japanese snacks, anime merchandise, toys, and collectible items. “We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from our customers and the local community. This ribbon cutting is an opportunity to celebrate our journey and share our passion for bringing Japanese food, entertainment, and culture to Western New York.”
