The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Buffalo Branch will present its Annual Achievement Award to retired judge and media commentator Penny Wolfgang on May 16, 2026 at its annual meeting.
The Achievement Award is presented to “an outstanding woman or women of the Buffalo/Western New York area whose attainments, character, and achievement merit recognition and that dignify the position of women in the community.”
In choosing Penny Wolfgang, AAUW noted Penny Wolfgang has a long and varied history in service to the people of Buffalo and Western NY. Although she was always active in theatre and interested in broadcast journalism, she is well-known for her 30-year career as a NY State Supreme Court Judge in Buffalo, New York.
Following her service in the judiciary, Penny Wolfgang has focused on community issues and education. Because Ms. Wolfgang highlights community activities and fundraisers in her radio programs and podcasts, she supports hundreds of nonprofits and organizations serving the community and has a wide impact.
Recently, Judge Penny Wolfgang was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame in recognition for her decades-long service to the Western New York community with her weekly programs, media appearances, and for championing the opportunity
to have cameras in the courtroom.
