AAUW Awards 2025 Scholarships



The Buffalo Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) announced the winners of its 2025 scholarships at a dinner held on June 12, 2025, at Sean Patrick’s. About 80 people consisting of scholarship winners and guests and members of AAUW were in attendance to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments demonstrated by these remarkable women.

 
The scholarships range from $5,000 to $8,000 for a total of $72,000.
 
Catalyst for Change Scholarships, presented by Mary Bashore, were awarded to Tyonna Acoff, Sirat Kaur, Gia Panesar and Jessca Williams.
 
Olga Lindberg Scholarships were presented to Judith Brennan, Emily Hudson, Joyce Jekayinoluwa, and Alexsandra Lenhard by Melissa White. 
 
Women Entering College Scholarships were awarded to Nga Meh, Sophia Opalinski, Madison White, Ava Wylke, and Ali Afrin by Anne Marie Haumesser and Cynthia Mehary.
 
It was noted that these scholarships are possible through the dedicated efforts of AAUW members and volunteers, as the majority of the funds are generated from the annual scholarship book sale, as well as donations and bequests.
 
Scholarship committee members included Mary Bashore, Kate Collins, Pauline Dyson, Joan Eschner, Maryann Hope, Judy Huber, Carol Griffith, Anne Marie Haumesser, Shirley Joy, Melissa Boes Kirk, Betty Krist, Cynthia Mehary, Sonja Miller, Betty Preble, Andy Smith, and Judy Weidemann, led by Melissa White.
