Amherst Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, A.J. Baynes is proud to announce the launch of the Chamber’s On-the-Job Training Grant. This reimbursement grant will support small and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profits in the eight Western New York counties (Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming) with On-the-Job Training, wage subsidy, skills upgrading, and employee retention.
“In today’s competitive job market, businesses need every advantage to build and retain skilled talent. This On-the-Job Training Grant empowers Western New York employers to upskill current employees and promote from within, reducing hiring challenges while strengthening our regional workforce,” said A.J. Baynes, President and CEO of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce. “By offsetting training and wage costs, we’re delivering real, tangible support that drives business growth and economic vitality across our community.”
With an application and approved training plan, a business can be reimbursed for up to 50% of training costs and wages. Each participating business is required to pay for training and wages upfront, then submit for reimbursement upon training completion.
On-the-Job Training grants can assist in the acceleration of promotable employees by alleviating some of the costs associated with retaining talent and attracting new talent.
All interested businesses must have been in business for at least one year and have two or more employees. Additional grant guidelines, application, frequently asked questions and resources can be found online at Amherst.org/grants.
