Canal Bank to Evolve Its Name to Canal Bank & Trust, N.A.
A familiar name receives an update as the company brings
its banking divisions together under one identity.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Chemung Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CHMG), parent company of Chemung Canal Trust Company, today announced that its Canal Bank division will make a subtle update to its name, becoming Canal Bank & Trust, N.A. as part of a companywide brand unification.
For Canal Bank customers, the change will be especially familiar. The Canal Bank name remains at the center of the new identity, with “& Trust” added to more fully reflect the organization’s capabilities and align the division with one consistent companywide brand.
“For our Canal Bank customers, this is a natural evolution rather than a significant change,” said Vincent M. Cutrona, President of Canal Bank. “The name they know will remain, supported by an updated identity that more clearly represents the breadth and strength of our organization. Most importantly, the people, relationships and community-banking approach behind that name will be exactly the same.”
There will be no change to the company’s mission, leadership, ownership or commitment to local service. Canal Bank customers will continue to work with the same bankers and branch teams and will continue to have access to the same accounts, products, services and support.
The Canal Bank & Trust, N.A. name and logo will officially be introduced in the coming months and then implemented across the company’s footprint throughout 2027. Updates will appear gradually on branch and office signage, digital banking channels, company websites, social media platforms, marketing and communications and other customer touchpoints.
Because Canal Bank is already closely aligned with the new name, customers should experience the transition as a simple and seamless update. The change preserves the recognition Canal Bank has built in the market while creating a clearer connection to the capabilities of the broader organization. No action is required by customers. Existing accounts, checks, debit cards, web and mobile banking, loan payments and other services will continue functioning as usual.
