CHAMBER MEMBER T-MOBILE UNVEILS VETS DISCOUNT PROGRAM & PLEDGES TO HIRE 10,000 VETS/SPOUSES

AMHERST, NY –Amherst Chamber of Commerce President/CEO A.J. Baynes joins T-Mobile NE Director of Business Sales Luke LaPresta and Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns in announcing a new program offering deep wireless phone discounts for veterans.

On April 22nd, the company launched T-Mobile ONE Military – its biggest discount ever for veterans and their families. It has all of the benefits of T-Mobile ONE, but it also includes 50% off for family lines and 20% off  the primary line.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Chamber member T-Mobile for this generous offer,” says Baynes. “Those who serve our country endure a tremendous sacrifice to protect our freedom, and we support anything that eases their financial burden.”

”Military families are an under-served group – and today, we’re changing that for good,” says LaPresta, who is also an Air Force veteran. “This is not a promotion – this is a long-term initiative. We want to support transitioning military service members and military spouses in a bigger way than ever before. All of this is our way to simply say ‘Thank You’ to our active military, veterans and their families for their commitment to our country.”

“I am thrilled to welcome T-Mobile as the newest participating business in the Erie County Clerk’s Thank A Vet Discount Program,” says Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns. “It joins more than 1,400 local businesses that have signed up to say ‘Thank You’ to our local veterans. T-Mobile’s generous discount is a great salute to the service and sacrifice of the members, veterans and families of the United States Armed Forces.”

T-Mobile is also committing to hire 10,000 veterans and military spouses in the next five years. Its veteran recruiting efforts so far have earned the company recognition as a Top 100 Military Friendly Employer by Military Friendly® for 10 years running.

Veterans and their spouses face tough employment challenges. In fact, 53% of veterans experience unemployment within the first 15 months post-service. It’s even tougher for military spouses—their unemployment is 4 times the national average.

T-Mobile has also partnered with the award-winning veteran service organization, FourBlock, to make its successful Career Readiness program available online to everyone (even non-T-Mobile customers) for FREE.

And, T-Mobile is strengthening its network by investing over half a billion dollars to expand its LTE capacity to provide a great experience on military bases today, while laying the foundation for 5G coverage to ensure that military communities have the best technology to receive the benefits of 5G early on.
