Fred Astaire Dance Studios - Buffalo Celebrates 20 Years in Business
Dance Card Fundraiser for Ukraine to Highlight the Evening with Champagne Toast
(Buffalo, N.Y.) – Fred Astaire Dance Studios (FADS) in Buffalo is celebrating 20 years in business this month, and marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony with community members and the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the studio in Williamsville. Later this evening, they’ll host a champagne toast and party for students and the public at 6:00 p.m.
“I extend a heartfelt congratulations to Yana and Serge for continuing to preserve the Fred Astaire legacy and commend them on building their business and, more importantly, a community of people of all backgrounds that walks through their doors,” said A.J. Baynes, President and CEO, Amherst Chamber of Commerce. “During the dark days of the COVID-19 pandemic, they persevered through hard work and dedication by keeping their students connected, and that is why they continue to be successful today. Their studio has served thousands of people over the past twenty years, and I look forward to their continued success over the next twenty years.”
While Fred Astaire Dance Studios is a national company, each franchise is locally owned. “We have been a part of the Buffalo Fred Astaire Family for only seven years, and had large shoes to fill after our predecessors,” said Serge and Yana Nelyubov, Co-Owners, FADS Buffalo. “We love hearing from our students how dance has become an activity that brings them solace during difficult times, or peace after a long day of work. We thank the Amherst Chamber and the community for their support over these twenty years, and look forward to many more.”
Patricia Hoffman, 75, has been dancing at this studio for all of its 20 years. “I started dancing when I retired from teaching, and these past twenty years have done so much for my self confidence. I actually met my husband while dancing, and our wedding dance was choreographed here.”

The Nelyubovs have a very close connection to Ukraine, and still have family there. To demonstrate solidarity and support, the studio will be hosting a fundraiser to help the people of Ukraine Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.
Attendees of the event are invited to offer a monetary donation for the humanitarian aid effort in Ukraine. Additionally, those wishing to help–and dance!–may fill out a dance card for $15 per dance, up to five dances. All proceeds will be donated to the effort.
