AMHERST CHAMBER OFFERS SECOND NYS COMPLIANT SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION TRAINING FOR BUSINESSES

AMHERST, NY – Amherst Chamber of Commerce President/CEO A.J. Baynes is announcing a second Sexual Harassment Prevention Seminar for businesses that need assistance meeting the new state requirement.

Starting this year, the state is mandating all businesses provide sexual harassment prevention training for their employees on an annual basis. The Amherst Chamber held its first training course in February, but high demand is dictating another session to help more businesses comply with the new rules.

In the most recent legislative session, state lawmakers approved a sweeping new set of reforms to the state’s laws on sexual harassment designed to offer new protections for victims in the workplace and when they report inappropriate behavior.

“New York State’s sexual harassment laws are now among the toughest in the country,” says Baynes. “We want to make sure businesses and employees are prepared and that is why we are offering this training once again to members and non-members.”

The two-hour course will be guided by a panel of experts, led by Lisa Coppola of The Coppola Firm, who has developed a rigorous program aligned with the new sexual harassment reforms.

Joining Coppola on the panel are Frank LoTempio III, a defense attorney at LoTempio Law Group and a representative from Employer Services Corporation.

To comply, employers can register their employees at amherst.org. Upon completing the training, participants will receive certification that the NYS mandate has been met.
